Website privacy and cookies

This page is about lingogram.ai itself — the pages you are reading right now. It is not about the extensions: each of those has its own policy covering what it collects while you watch, listed on the privacy page.

If you accept, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which pages lead to an install. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_*) that hold a randomly generated identifier. That identifier is not your name, your email or your account: it only lets us tell a returning visit from a new one.

No cookie is set until you choose. Until you press Accept in the cookie banner — and permanently, if you press Decline — analytics storage stays switched off (Google Consent Mode v2): no analytics cookie is written, and no identifier for you is stored or reused between visits.

To be precise about what does still happen: with analytics storage switched off, Google's tag sends a single signal per page telling Google that consent was refused. It carries no cookie and no stored identifier — a fresh random value is generated for each page load and never kept — so it cannot recognise you, link your visits, or follow you to another site. Google uses these refusal signals only to estimate, statistically, how much traffic it is not measuring. If you would rather not send even that, any content blocker or browser tracking protection stops it, and nothing on this site depends on the tag working.

What is recorded, if you accept: the pages you open, the language version you read them in, where you arrived from, an approximate location derived from your IP address (Google discards the address itself and never stores it), your browser and device type, and a small number of actions on the site — clicking through to the Chrome Web Store, trying the demo player on the home page, and signing in or signing up. Sign-in events record only that one happened and by which method; your email address and account identifier are deliberately never attached, so the analytics data and your account cannot be joined.

We do not use these cookies for advertising, and advertising, remarketing and personalization signals are switched off in the tag.

You can change your mind at any time with the Cookies link in the footer of every page. Choosing Decline there switches analytics storage back off and deletes the _ga and _ga_* cookies already in your browser, so the identifier they held is gone rather than merely unused. Clearing your browser's site data for lingogram.ai erases both the choice and the cookies too, and you will be asked again on your next visit.
